After the first day of the group training, I felt good. Although I was not able to run for the next two days due to work - which I considered as my rest days.
We left for Connecticut on Friday night to spend the weekend with family (in celebration of my cousin's husband's birthday). We got there late, and did not sleep until 2:30am. Still, I was determined to run during that weekend.
I woke up at 7am, Saturday morning, got my gear ready and my breakfast - bagel with peanut butter. It was a tough decision, my mom's place is located just by a very steep hill. So mu brother had suggested a route with a flat trail. So off we went, running five minutes and resting for one. It was a such a good run. I was able to run five minutes at a time without the need to stop after the first set. Coming back to my mom's place, I challenged myself to run the steep hill - and I conquered it! It was terrible, and as soon as I reached the top, I wanted to collapse! The great part about is - we ran back down and it was heaven! (hahaha)
Sunday morning - greeted us with non-stop rain. I was going to brave it and run. But thought otherwise. The rain was just relentless. We drove back down to NY late in the afternoon with the steady downpour.
Monday - woke up with sniffles and funny throat feeling, and yes, it was still raining. The rain was not as bad as it was the other day. So, I thought it would be ok for me to run. So, I got ready and ran. It was terrible! I could not run for a good 10 minutes - but I tried. I guess this was what they meant "you'll have good runs and bad ones."
Today, I woke up feeling a bit worse than yesterday. But still motivated to run. Still with the gloomy weather yet, no rain. I planned to run my usual route, only to be welcomed by construction for the entire block by the park. So, plan b: run around the park. The park had a track, I just do not know how many miles the track is (I think it's about half a mile per lap). I was able to run the first six-minutes and rest for one minute. The second six-minute I could not finish, despite me pushing myself really hard. I did about three minute. (sad face) But I did not give up. I walked around the track and ran as much as my legs could carry me. It felt nice to run. It felt nice that I was pushing myself despite me feeling under the weather.
I just hope that this sniffles would go away and that I could run longer. I am determined.
