i jogged/walked today... and went to the gym. a breakdown of what i did:

then... a 15-minute at the treadmil... couple reps(?) on the seated leg press, couple reps on the biceps and triceps curl...
now, i'm sleepy... work for the next two days. until then.
* i still experience the shin splints on my right, and i think my left leg is starting to act up. but i am too out of shape already, and i am pushing myself and will be pushing myself.

A Week Off
after a week of hiatus - ok, of being a bum, stayed at home and read a book (if not at work), i am back. i am back and frustrated.
i thought rest was all the shin splints needed... good thing, i decided to join a gym. yes, I JOINED A GYM! i had a feeling the shin splints were gonna start again, and i just didn't want to stop and walk home defeated. joining a gym was a good idea.
i started of in the treadmill... and yes, same situation - shin splint started few minutes into running. i tried the elliptical machine... but i think i had been in "bedrest" for far too long that my body couldn't last. i was so out of shape! so i tried the bicycle... and i got bored - it did nothing to me. so, i got the hubby to show me to do some weights for my legs. and he did... i did about 30 reps on the leg bench press thingy (in three different weights). and it felt good.
i wonder, how come the shin splints goes away when i'm not running... but comes back as soon as i start again? is this normal?
shin splints or not, i plan to stick to the gym on the days that the weather won't permit me to run. i even plan to visit it after work, just do some stuff (i don't know what in particular).
God bless!

hello shin splints, we meet again...
after two days of rest, i decided to run again. this time, i made sure i did the stretches that the coach taught me and some more.

i pushed myself to run even with the pain. then i walked it off. as soon as the pain subsided, i tried running again only to find myself in pain (again!). though i wanted to continue and do the course that i planned for the night, i realized that i didn't have my cellphone nor any form of identification with me... that thought scared me, thinking what if i can't go home or it gets to a point wherein i just can't move due to pain... so i decided to just walk back home.
currently icing the lower part of my leg.. will try again in the morning. :(
God bless!

First Injury: Shin Splints
Got up at 6:30am to attend the group training at central park. the goal today was five miles....
first mile in, my right ankle started to feel funny. i tried to rotate/stretch as much as i can. tried to push myself to run some more, only to find the pain to slowly crawl up to my shins. it was terrifying. i haven't had that pain since i have gotten my shoes (which was also since the start of the training). i took the advice of one of the runners and turned back and walked to "home base". walking down, the pain slowly dissipated. i tried to run again, then my left started to act. so i stopped. i just tried to run to see how my foot would hold up... it was really disappointing... i really wanted to finish the course...
when i got back to the "home base" one of the mentors and trainer, helped me out with some stretches. which helped... and i hope would help me out even more as i continue.
it's not hurting right now, but it is tender when i massage it. i don't know if it is my shoes or just the terrain... it might be my legs telling me to get that nike shoes so i could get that nike + ipod thing! hehe
well.. i hope to be running either tomorrow or monday (after jury duty). still debating whether to take a rest day tomorrow or not... i'll keep you posted!
God bless!

I'm Back!
after six days of no run (four of which were due to work), i got up early (more like - forced myself!) despite of a sleepless night.
pre-running fuel: two hard boiled eggs and a glass of soy milk.
it felt good to run again, but it was hard especially after not running for six days. my legs felt weird at the beginning (like they were stiff or something) or maybe i just need to warm up more than what i do. ran around the neighborhood and continued (and ended) in the playground.
saw a lot of runners today. guess the weather is just so beautiful - sunny with cool breeze.
here's the route that i took:

(please pardon me... i am exhausted at the moment. having just come home and i think the sleep deprivation is finally catching up on me!)
until next time! God bless you all! have a lovely day!

missed group training
was not able to join the group training today, got home after 6pm.
i was feeling bad not being able to go. instead I changed into my "running gear" and went to the playground. I only did half an hour though, since I was starting to feel weird about the group of people that was hanging around the park. thankfully my hubby came with me, so I somehow felt safe.
got work for the next three days, but I will try to run again Friday after work. hopefully it won't be too bad at work and i would be able to get out at a decent time.
btw, team challenge is gonna be on the morning show tomorrow. so, whoever gets a chance to see it.... :) unfortunately i won't be there, but my friend will be! :)
God bless!
